This is remarkably lovely and arresting. We might as well be at Vaux-le-Vicomte or Villa d'Este, for all the power of any ambience to deflect our concentration from the patient, generous plinth of manly comity, the supple foil portending suave luxuriance, beyond its pendants and its poise. Embraced and soothed and slaked is all our consciousness, to slip the seizing strait a stroke to suckle in its sway.
